Simple and quick soup and sandwich place. Seems to be a favorite of the locals and was recommended to us by the owners of another local restaurant.

Stopped in for some excellent coffee and muffins. Not much else on offer, which was surprising, but the coffee was great. Beautiful interior, too.

While Trinity Mercantile prides itself on coffee, they do not have an espresso machine. They roast their coffee, which could be more based on economics than good taste. The space is nice and needed in Trinity but by observing the success of other places on in Newfoundland maybe they could get a few hints of how to make a coffee shop appeal to a newer sophisticated generation of people.

Don't order the turkey soup! I visited Trinity Mercantile recently and the turkey soup was so salty I couldn't eat it. One taste and I knew I couldn't (and shouldn't) eat it. In one spoonful there were 3-4 small pieces of salt beef. When I returned it at the counter and advised a staff member that I couldn't eat it for the salt, she replied, "Ok." That was it. No offer to replace it with something else, no refund, no apology. That said, the desserts looked great. But I didn't stick around. It was very disappointing because all other food establishments in Trinity are really good.
